On the night of January 24th, Andy Gray was sacked by SkySportsNews after allegations of a sexist nature against female assistant referee Sian Massey last weekend. His comments made off-air with presenter Charlotte Jackson, were disgraceful and horrific to say the least.

After a 17 year long playing career, reaching cult hero status with Everton. When he hung up his boots, Andy went back to Aston Villa as assistant to Ron Atkinson. In 1990 Andy was a highly recognisable face of SkySportsNews team and that relationship would last for 21 years.

I hope Andy apologises to the female refereeing assistant as she done nothing wrong in that game at the weekend. However since this incident, there has been a worry that female referee's will lose interest in coming into the man's game which is a shame as women as as entitled to referee as men are.

Sky released a statement which read, “Sky Sports has terminated its contract with Andy Gray, “The decision which is effective immediately was made in response to new evidence of unacceptable and offensive behavior”. This is in response to newly found footage of him and Charlotte Jackson in December of last year in which he suggestively asks, “Charlotte, can you tuck this (microphone pack) down here for me love… Tuck this down here.”

Many people have agreed with the decision taken by Sky to sack Andy as there is no place in sport for comments like his. However there has also been support in Andy's favour claiming, " It was just a joke." and "Sky have gone one step to far in sacking Andy Gray."

Whats your views on the sacking of Andy Gray and do you think is was the right thing to do.

Cheers
